Thunder Lake
August 4th, 2007
Report Summary
Today we hiked out to Thunder Lake. The plan was to continue up to Lake of Many Winds, and possibly to Boulder Grand Pass if the weather was good. We started at 6:00am from the Wild Basin TH under partly cloudy skies. That kept the temps during the hike comfortable. We reached the lake at about 8:10am. As you can see from the pictures, the pass and the surrounding peaks were covered in rain clouds. So we called the lake our final destination for the day. It was chilly at the lake, so Ali hiked back down the trail to get out of the wind to wait for us. Sandy stayed at the patrol cabin while I went to the other end of the lake for a few pictures. It's an easy hike along the lake and worth the extra effort to see the view from the other side. Sandy and I left the patrol cabin a little after 9:00am and finished up with Ali before 11:30am.
