Alluvial Fan

We arrived in Estes Park at 11:30AM. It was too early to check into our rental cabin so we decided to visit the Alluvial Fan. This was our ninth vacation to Rocky and this was the first time we ever stopped at the Fan. As you can see, it looked a little stormy.

We didn't spend any time climbing on the rocks. Ali and Sandy picked a comfortable spot and watched the falls and the other climbers. Meanwhile, I did the same and took a handful of pictures.

It didn't rain while we were there. The winds were light, and the temps were comfortable. I sat on a rock in the middle of the water and snapped this detail while watching the climbers.

After an hour or so, we headed back to the car and then were off to town for groceries. I took a couple flower shots on the way to the TH.

Once we checked into our cabin, there was a brief afternoon thundershower. But it cleared up nicely for our evening hike up Steep Mountain.
